The Bermuda .NET User Group [DNUG] recently hosted an open discussion on Cloud services and the Azure platform, in an event sponsored by Nova, Wineonline.bm and Microsoft.
The event consisted of three parts:
- A presentation by Microsoft on the Cloud in general and specifically on Azure.
- A technical demo by Microsoft on Azure.
- A Q&A session about the Cloud in general with more detailed questions about Azure.
“Microsoft presented on various general aspects of Cloud computing and its role in today’s business including most applicable workloads to migrate, migration strategies, adoption challenges, client data access and specific security challenges,” a spokesperson said.
“The presentation then moved on to how the Azure platform addresses these general challenges before discussing the availability of open-source data analysis solutions, comparisons to Google and Amazon Web Services, and the importance of fully vetting the underlying risk of any third-party colocation facilities.
“The Microsoft team faced challenging and lively questions on key aspects of Cloud computing specifically as these relate to Azure such as data security, the support programs that are available for assisting when difficulties arise with the cloud IaaS or PaaS platforms and pricing across supply regions.”
Sandra DeSilva, founder of event sponsor Nova said, “Through DNUG we invited Microsoft to come and speak at our event to do a deep dive into the technical side of using the Cloud and to demystify what it means as a developer to develop and deploy your needs in the Cloud. Although, as a company, we are cloud-agnostic”
