SharePoint and .NET Saturday Bermuda

A couple of weeks ago saw Bermuda’s first SharePoint and .NET Saturday.  For those of you not familiar with the concept, SharePoint Saturday is a community event where speakers spend their own time and money, travelling round to different communities and sharing their experiences and knowledge. What a wonderful idea…and a generous one!

Bermuda being a little small (!), the SharePoint and .NET user groups got together to jointly host the event and we’re delighted we did!

As you may know, Nova are very active in the Bermuda .NET User Group and Sandra is a co-founder, so we were involved in this event too.  Seeing the opportunity to bring together such great speakers for our community we also chose to be the Diamond sponsor and our very own Pawel Madziar ran a session about SharePoint 2013 and jQuery.

It was a lot of work but everyone who attended had some great feedback for us and we can see this being an event that grows from strength to strength in coming years.  The Nova team were certainly there in force with five of the team joining the event.  If you missed out, the website is still live to see what it’s all about!  www.spsbermuda.com

It being a Saturday during the summer, we appreciate there are often other engagements or holidays that keep you away but for anyone involved with .NET development or SharePoint, this event was not to be missed!  We’d appreciate any feedback about improvements we can make for future events.

It would also be great to hear from others in our community who want to get involved in future sessions, supporting the community, helping with a networking event or similar.

We can’t let the other sponsors go unappreciated because they allowed us to sow the speakers and attendees together in a proper event!  Thanks to Bermuda Insurance Institute, Microsoft, K2, MacroView, Gateway Systems, O’Reilly, Pluralsight and Tokio Millenium Re.

See you next year?
