Nova in the Community

Nova is happy to contribute to community development programs by investing time, energy and financial resources to help promote highly skilled software development as a service to businesses and as a career option for Bermudians.  We have, and will continue to work with various government and corporate members within the community to identify students who are inclined to pursue a career in custom application development.

We have also aligned ourselves in promoting Bermuda's vibrant culture, strong world class business community, infrastructure and services to companies looking for an ideal Head Office location.

The following are examples of our specific efforts to extend value within the community:

Internship Program

By training Bermudian interns during their summer breaks, we have provided practical experience to Bermudian students that provided custom designed solutions which include development, integration and graphic skills.

Technology Leadership Forum

This effort is an initiative designed by the Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications and E-Commerce, in partnership with private sector.

The goal of this forum is to support the growing demand to fill IT roles by providing local students an educational internship for practical experience while also exposing them to the career possibilities related to the Information Communications Technologies (ICT) industry in Bermuda.

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce

Nova has joined the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce and actively volunteers on the Business Technology Division to assist the promotion of software development as a career path for young students who consider entering the information technology field.

Nova has also been working toward designing training programs in software development to ensure the necessary courses are available in Bermuda for anyone who is interested in learning this field.

WITSA Sponsorship

Nova was a named sponsor for this global event hosted in Bermuda.

The World Information Technology And Services Alliance (WITSA) held its Global Public Policy Summit (GPPS) 2009 at the Fairmont Southampton in early November.  The event was hailed as a success by attendees who came to Bermuda from over 25 countries.

GPPS 2009, is a WITSA flagship event, focused on business technology as an enabler in world economies and featured representatives from key global players including the World Bank, WTO and other noteable organizations.

During the event, high school science classes sat in the audience during panel sessions to hear the issues, information and discussions related to adoption and management of world technology for global benefit.
